Duration
We allow between 90 to 120 minutes of time for your dogs initial assessment.
Consult Fee
$275 + travel fee** if required.
The consult fee includes: our time reviewing the information you've provided about your dog on the Behavioral Assessment Form prior to your appointment, the in-person assessment in your home of your dogs behavior and a follow up email providing a summary of the skills we discussed and the training plan we've agreed on.
**A travel fee MAY be required based on your location. Once you have returned the completed Behavioral Assessment Form and we know where we are going we'll let you know the amount of the travel fee if one is necessary. This fee is in addition to the consult fee and covers our time and gas to get to you.
Description
To begin we’ll book your initial consultation which provides an assessment of your dogs’ current behaviors and allows you to share the concerns, challenges or specific goals you have for your dog. Consultations can be set up for common behavior issues such as reactivity, poor impulse control, fear and nervousness, jumping, pulling on lead or poor recalls. We can also work on anxiety and noise phobias or other fear related challenges. We offer focused skill improvement for competition dogs as well as show ring/conformation handling training. Whatever your concerns or needs might be, together we’ll develop a training plan that fits your lifestyle and progresses at you and your dog’s pace. Included are helpful handouts and a follow up email to recap what we discussed, outline the agreed upon training plan and to help you stay on track to meet your goals.
Some things can be addressed during the initial consultation while others might require additional sessions to reach the goals you have. Depending on your needs we offer flexible follow up sessions at our hourly rate, currently $140 per hour, as well as discounted pre-paid packages in 4 or 6 hour blocks of time. The packages offer a 10 to 15 percent savings over the hourly rate, they do not expire and can be used on an as needed basis. If we need just 30 minutes to work on a recall with distractions we can do that. Maybe we need 90 minutes to take a hike together to work on reactivity around unknown people and dogs, we can do that too. At the end of each follow up session we subtract the time spent from the total hours of the package until we get to zero.
To book your initial consult you’ll want to fill out the Behavioral Assessment Form. The form can be accessed by clicking the link below. The form is lengthy and we do need your honest and complete response to EVERY question. If something doesn’t apply please mark that question N/A so we know it wasn’t accidentally over-looked. Each question requires a response. Once you’ve completed the form and submitted it, we’ll review the information you’ve provided and then reach out to schedule your appointment. For private consults the schedule does fill quickly so the sooner we receive your assessment form the quicker we can find a spot on the schedule that will work for us both.
